In reality though, everything that gets said here is pretty much the other way round: The primates were named after the Roman spirits of the deceased, and the term "Lemuria" in turn refers to the primates, and was coined in 1864 by the zoologist Philip Sclater for a hypothetical sunken continent, as an attempt to explain just the same biological phenomenon that gets discussed here.
