Oh...

Oh my...

I did NOT see that coming...

WOW!

Ah yes, that's the intended audience reaction!!! :-D

(And I worried about my story being too predictable after the "statues are not actually statues" bit was guessed by almost everyone...)

Magic coins bringing statues to life is not exactly an everyday occurrence, so I guess I can excuse the colorful language this time... :-D

(Who do you mean? Lara Croft? Samus Aran?? Princess Peach???)

Pirate bosses turning out to be Atlantean royalty isn't an everyday thing either too

Pirates --> the sea --> Atlantis. Makes perfect sense to me! ;-D

"Pigeon Coin", "Ultimate MILF", "Ytterbium's Ritual": every page of your comic has great names for hypothetical bands.

Microraptor
Haha, I take that as a compliment! :-D

(New achievement goal for my comic: Something coined by me cropping up as band name on iTunes, Spotify or something similar! ;-) )

Wait, WHAT!? She must be centuries old then. Guess Camilla has a secret stash of youth juice stored in that pirate ship of hers. Or she's cursed! What a twist. Bravo.

Thanks! :-)
The next page will reveal some more info about what the heck is going on with Camilla...

Yeah, I thought those statues looked suspicious.

That other twist though...

Microraptor
One twist out of two catching everyone off guard - that's a half-success I guess!

(Or, I could simply claim that the more obvious twist was just a decoy to hide the other one long enough - stage magician style!)

Holy crap!! What a cougar!

I actually contemplated if I should use "cougar" rather than "MILF" here. I came to the conclusion that there seems to be a subtle difference: A cougar is an older woman who is attracted to younger men, while a MILF is an older woman whom younger men find attractive. Camilla wants to comment on Peter crushing on her (while not necessarily admitting that the attraction may be mutual), so the latter fitted better.

Yep!! The statues being weird wasn't exactly subtle...

I hoped Camilla would turn out to be Atlantean. I didn't expect her to be royalty too. :D

Fun fact: When I first came up with Camilla, I envisioned her as being from the Caribbean.
The notion of making her Atlantean only came a bit later. So, what triggered this idea? It was the "Hello Sister!" moment of this very page, cropping up in my mind one day!

I'm always amazed by how much fun the plots are in so many webcomics, despite the authors not planning ahead too much. I think it might be because the plots are thought up over very long periods of time, it gives time for new ideas to come up.

Exactly! What actually ends up on the page is often a mix, in the most extreme cases stuff I've planned since years ago and stuff that I literally only came up with while drawing said page!
