The name "Bimstein" ("Bimsstein" meaning "pumice" in German) is a pun on the real town of Ramstein(-Miesenbach), because for some time I imagined a specific key scene coming in this chapter as taking place in an American airbase instead of a toy company's research facility... (TV Tropes would call that a Development Gag.)

Hmm, I wonder if the harnessed the power of Lay Lines would that work. There is the theory (quite out there mind you) that these lines are like the life force of the planet and that a lot of ancient sites are positioned on them for their supernatural qualities.

I haven't thought about Lay Lines - but sure, that would fit...
(This bit is mainly about me writing myself out of a corner, because I have inconveniently established earlier that certain magic only works in Atlantis...)

Ah neat! That's seems like a clever way of getting out of that one. makes a lot of sense :D

You mean the thing about tricking the spell via the manipulating the Earth magnetic field? Thanks!
(Personally, I like how Clarissa does those "enthusiastic scientist explains something" hand gestures while talking about this! :-D )
