"Poseidon's beard mold" is supposed to be an Atlantean expletive. Due to the Atlanteans, according to Plato, having been Poseidon worshippers, it would be considered somewhat blasphemous from their perspective.
And "fuggin" is by Chippewa Ghost - well (probably) not really, but his comic is where I first (consciously) encountered this particular spelling...
(Also, I liked the idea that the Queen of Atlantis of all people is pushing the boundaries of "strong language" we have had in this comic so far...)
Abrupt - yes that's what I was going for! (Did you notice how Yalala's sudden outburst is startling Clarissa, which makes her jerk back her head a bit?)
Now, okay, there's two ways this beard mold thing could go!
#1: Poseidon's beard is DISGUSTING and MOLDY.
#2: Poseidon literally uses a mold, like a Jell-O mold, to sculpt his beard.
I don't know which is better.
The terrifying thing is, these two scenarios don't have to be mutually exclusive... I mean, the beard could be formable via a mold in the first place because it is so incredibly felted...
Usually it wouldn't behoove a fine upper class Atlantean girl too curse like an uncouth oyster fisher from the harbor quarter - but this situation is a quite understandable exception!
The presence of such power may be the best argument for arming up with Atlantean full-tang tridents---disassembly isn't possible.
Also, I note that yet again the presence of large numbers of armed individuals (some of whom even get lines of dialogue and names) won't stop the bad guy... that's got to be a Trope of its own.
The "disassembly not possible" angle will indeed come into play later, although rather differently. (Though, come to think of it, the "simple thrusting weapon" part will also make an appearance at one point...)
And, yeah... I know what you mean... And to think that just a few days ago, I wrote about how a larger group of people can beat a better armed opponent by attacking from several sides at once...
Strontium certainly has to concentrate on noticing every possible threat in time for this to work. (It's good for him that the guards don't seem to have any hidden snipers...) I'd say advantageous for him right now is that they are in a hallway, with the enemy always coming from the front direction. (Though an attack from behind will also play a role later...)
I also question the wisdom of firing a rocket launcher indoors!
(I may have gotten the inspiration for adding to their arsenal at least one bit of "heavy artillery" from here...)
It's interesting that you categorize my comic as PG +13, insofar as I am usually just following my "gut feelings" when looking for appropriate curse words, rather than following strict rules about what words are allowed or not.
Desperate situations require desperate measures!
Though perhaps he should be glad that he didn't get the opportunity to actually launch the rocket after all...

(Or on the wrong head...)

I know things are looking dour but jeez, talk about overkill!
