I don't know about you, but I would consider the iconic skyline of New York one day wholly unexpectedly being directly in front of you to be a quite surreal experience...

I would have preferred to show said skyline at night, but during WWII, many cities did blackouts in order to not be easy targets for the enemy.
(Though it seems that, according to this historian, New York mostly did less severe "dimouts" instead.)

Yeah, coastal defense units (US Coast Guard?) would probably have at least done a drive-by to see if they were Reich-flagged.

But really, with the U-Boat threat a very nasty and real thing, a beat-up schooner would probably draw little attention, assuming they weren't sporting radio aerials or obvious armaments.

Does Camilla's ship even have a radio...? (At the very least, she knows how to use one.)
And we know that the Anne Bonny's Revenge is armed with at least one cannon - but that one is quite easy to hide, I guess.

Oh and BTW, interesting that you mention U-Boats... ;-)
