Three guesses which "obscure little" movie inspired me to the title for this chapter, and the first two guesses don't count...

[PS: As far as I can tell, the preceding update didn't show up on the ComicFury front page. I don't know what that meant for the page that is showing the newest updates to subscribers.]

Yesss! Now, what would work best on them? For the Most Academic? For the Best Cryptid Hunter?

Well, Lena seems plain and simply have the original meaning in mind...
But of course, there must be more to such a legendary artifact than it being just like a trophy for your mantlepiece... ;-)

That kind of slip-up unfortunately occurs sometimes at CF...

Now about that movie... I'm trying to remember the name of it. I know it was by some unknown director and written by some other unknown... :P

Now, what's worrying me is, what on Earth could Lena possibly want with that thing? It's pure trouble, plain and simple...

Wait, didn't the lead actor in said move also have a role in those weird obscure space movies by the same director?? ;-D

Also: Yes, you are asking exactly the right question! :-)
Wanting the apple due to vanity, as Kanny suggests in the previous page, may sound to be quite in character for Lena. But is that really the only reason she wants that apple...? ;-)

Prof's prompting for me to read Illuminatus! a few years back means that this page has a whole hell of a lot of automatic baggage.

I have read the Illuminatus! trilogy too (and thus am also aware of Discordianism et cetera).
But that was long ago, so I think the interpretation of the apple that I will present in this chapter may derive rather more from the Greek myth itself.
