Yes, what Wildebees does here goes morality-wise into "eye for eye"-territory... I guess out of all my "good guy" characters, she is the one farthest to the anti-hero side of the alignment spectrum.
She's fighting a murderous assassin who killed one crew member and nearly killed Babette. Plus she probably has a ship nearby so it's not inconceivable she can survive this.
Your first sentence sums up Selene's reasoning here very well. (In addition, it has been shown that merely locking her up was an insufficient solution.)
