To be fair though, a mid-20th century style retro commercial could probably work nowadays if you do it as a parody.
Bonus points if the product you advertise couldn't have possibly existed decades ago, for maximum anachronistic contrast.

Hey, is that the guy who signed me up for a space in Vault 111?

They... seem to have the same tailor. (And the same pipe salesman...) 0.o

More seriously, the inspiration for the general style here (including the pipe!) mainly comes from me binge-watching Mad Men, which is taking place in the 1960s.

In my twisted mind, Mr. Yolo is in the pie.

Seems that I have a new character whom people love to hate...

I love to LOVE Mr. Yolo, are you kidding.
This is honestly a pretty solid and standard move, giving the client what they asked for to such an extreme and uncomfortable degree that they relent a bit and let you backpedal towards your original idea a bit!! Mr. Yolo is crazy like a fox!!

I really gotta watch Mad Men, the fashion inspiration would be VALUABLE.

Unfortunately, what Bettina's reaction to this move will be probably isn't in any "How to Pitch Commercials 101" handbook... ;-)
(Kinda reminds me of how directors sometimes put overly extreme scenes into their movies or TV shows as "censor bait", so that the people who decide if something has to be cut can focus on these, and leave the just a little bit less controversial scenes alone.)

And yeah, I didn't think of that before! Mad Men may fashion-wise indeed be right up your alley regarding comic-related research purposes!

From one extreme to the other. I'm guessing Tiny isn't going to like this ad any better than the first one.

Nope, she is definitely not a fan of this ad either! ^^
