I mean, you did notice that Auguste Louis' workshop is missing half of its roof, right? ;-)

Also, this was probably the moment in which Timmy I told himself: "Screw this, I am emigrating to America!"

Yeah. That’s a pretty compelling reason to GTFO of Europe.

The minimum age for military service at that time in France was 20, so Timmy had the luck of being born a bit too late for having had to spend his time during the war e.g. in some trench near Verdun.
However, that doesn't mean that he didn't feel the war's repercussions on the home front...

Furthermore...
I drew this page shortly before I got this one PM in which you wrote the following bit:
"...is viewed with at best skeptical eyes by the elders, that pretty much sums up the Timmy family. Always one step ahead of the lynch mob..."
In hindsight though, I now think another factor triggering his decision to emigrate might well be that Timmy figured he has no alibi, should the authorities or society suddenly suspect him to be responsible for the explosion...

A violent death happens, and people focus their suspicion on someone from the Timmy family? History repeats!

Yes, why does a pacifist build an "Ultimate Weapon"?
We'll eventually get to that...

Hiding an important piece of family history from your daughter though, which would have helped explaining your general attitude?
There is no real excuse for that. Shame on you, Jacques!
