When Antoine Duval says that he doesn't have anything about Germans, this doesn't preclude him disliking the occasional individual German (like e.g.... Eisenthal) - but then it's for other reasons than their nationality!
The German wife that Duval is talking about is Helga von Katz.
(And that's basically my in-universe explanation why his descendants Dexter and Sinistra are operating in Germany instead in France.)
As for Eisenthal's pal Heinrich Kaiser - nowadays he rather goes by the name Henry King...
But there're a lot of real historical references to unpack here as well...
The nationalistic concept of Germans and French being "hereditary enemies" has unfortunately fueled a lot of bloodshed over the course of history, up until the end of WWII, when finally the European Coal and Steel Community (the seed of the European Union) was founded.
Eisenthal and Duval are furthermore referencing the Occupation of the Ruhr here: In order to enforce Germany more quickly the paying war reparations laid out after WWI by the Treaty of Versailles, France occupied the economically important Ruhr district, but had to retreat again in 1925 due to massive resistance by the populace.

Announcement:
There will be an additional update on Valentine's Day, due to Cryptida's participation in the Valentine's Day Sex Drive.
One part of the update will be the next page of this story, completely normal and "Safe For Work" - but there will also be a link to a "Not Safe For Work" image!
@ Jean-Q-Citizen:
Judging from the author comment over at your comic, I suppose everything regarding VDSD has been sorted out by now?
If so, I am glad! Valentine's Day can come!
That kinda makes sense too. (Within the constrains in which those concepts make sense to us today anyway, of course.)
There have been many wars between the British and the French too.
Meanwhile, even the English language itself is more related to German than to French, due to the Angles and Saxons having it brought with them way back then.
But that reminds me of how there are also different opinions regarding football rivalries:
For the English football fans, it seems they see the German team as their main rival, while the German fans say that that their main rivalry is rather... with the Dutch team!

Thanks for stepping in with helpful advice!
Well, ironically, it's Antoine who's descendant is named Sinistra! :-D
(Major character moment approaching...)
