I knew someone who was descended from relatives of Henry Avery. He married a lady I fancied; the pirate! ;) Nah, he was all right. Funny chap with incredibly thick glasses.

Oh! And I've eaten in a pub where Blackbeard did his recruiting. Sing a song of Sixpence was supposedly his recruiting song - all metaphors on the money and bounty to be made, and hints on where to find him to sign up. Can't remember which pub it was, now; don't think it was the Smuggler's Rest but it might have been. It was somewhere in one of those little towns east of Brighton.

Had to google Henry Avery, because I didn't know him yet!

BTW, this song about the real life female pirate Anne Bonny always makes me think of Camilla. :-)

I guess if they had a good education, they wouldn't had to become pirates in the first place...
