The Great Oxidation Event was the era in prehistory when microbial activities caused the level of molecular oxygen in Earth's atmosphere to rise very significantly, which just then enabled the evolution of life forms that are actually dependent on molecular oxygen. (Lifeforms like e.g. us.)
Thus, sending a time traveller to a time before that would be... very bad news for said time traveller.

And Stilldown is probably squirming right now at the sight of a Rumpler Tropfenwagen getting its windows smashed in!
But Fritz Lang also wrecked a few of them while filming Metropolis, so...

It's the only really sad point each time I watched that movie... At least I saw one of the few survivors for real once in Munich. (CW/ de 0,28 in 1921! Amazing...)

I already told you that I don't really like the look of most cars from the 1920s. The Rumpler Tropfenwagen however is definitely an exception - it has such an unusual design (with the Metropolis connection being an additional cherry on top), I just had to include it!! :-D

My favourites start in the 1930ies,too, but there are some remarkable 1920ies cars to look out:
- Chenard et Walcker 1500 Y8 Tank car, predating streamline design
- Bucciali: All models
- Bugatti T41
- Cord L29 (lesser known then the fantastic 810/812, but 1930ies before the 1930ies)
- Farman Rennlimousine A6B
- Ruxton 8 (the only Cord L29 rival)
- Austin Seven (size and proportions)
- Lancia Lambda (proportion/ structure)
- Morgan Threeler
- Steyr VI Sport (consequent design)
- Hispano Suiza K6 Limousine
- Bugatti Royale
- 1924 Hispano-Suiza H6 Tulip Wood (1930ies conversion of original, but almost too good to be true)
- Julian Sportcoupe (radial engine 1925!)
- Persu Streamlinecar (not pretty, but a streamline prototype from romania in the early 1920ies!)
- Zaschka Folding car (not pretty, but a working, foldable & portable german car)
- Golden Arrow (most elegant speed record car ever)
Surely there are some more.

That's quite a collection of nice cars!
If I need another background car in this chapter, this might prove quite useful!

I forgot to add the Hanomag Kommißbrot as unusual, but popular tiny german car.
But if you really like to go into the weird section, check out...
- the numerous motorized monowheels in the 1920ies,
- the 1926 Wolseley-Vickers Wheel-Cum-Tracks (it was called like that)
- the Mauser Einspurauto/ Monotrace /Winkler
- 1929 screwdriven Tractor
- Fusetti boat car
- several propeller driven cars (some versions with unprotected front propellers if you ever like to go gory...)
- Thriple-Threat, 1928 Flying amphibian car
and so on.
PS: Unforgivable, I thought about the beautiful Düsenberg J several times, but did not write it down - a serial car in the 1920ies that reached close to 200 km/h!

oh boy I think this is going to end badly for some bad people

Who says that it won't end badly for everyone...

Looks like a case for Cliff Kleiderbügel.

Trying a complete shot in the dark, my guess is that he's an associate of Nick Knatterton...?

I meant that mysterious-mysterious guy in a trenchcoat that shows up at the end of many serials asking how the hero will get out of all the shoggoth-poo alive and so on... He often speaks from the off while he's hanging around.
Microraptor edit delete reply
Ah, OK!
I bet he's also related to the guy with an excited sounding radio announcer voice!

"Will Cleo escape the orb of death?
What are those fires in the background?
And willl the insurance pay for the broken windscreen?
Hang on and see in the next episode of .. Cryptida!"
Yes, that is Cliff Kleiderbügel. At least that is his Krautname.

The Doodler
Stromatalites represent!
Microraptor edit delete reply
I say screw them! They polluted the air with this highly corrosive gas, and life had to evolve a whole new metabolism just for coping with that!
