My initial idea for this creature was a giant frogfish, or perhaps a moray eel...
(Cue Lora asking: "Shouldn't you be in salt water?")
But then I thought: Nope, triops!

As you may already know, Lora is supposed to be a member of the Sisterhood, a group of mermaids that appeared in a Kaza's Mate Gwenna chapter that crossed over with Cryptida...
And just recently, a second KMG crossover-chapter has just begun!

(This creature here is a crustacean called a triops though - just much larger than in real life!)
(But strangely, both words taken literally kinda fit too!)

I peeked at the link you provided to see what a triops was.
(I'd figured the etymology right, at least!)
My first thought was "uh-oh! it's the King or Queen of the space trilobytes!"
I can't wait to see where this story goes!
