Seems like Tarik has recommended yet another book to Jade...

The woman at the left in the first panel is a character I've been waiting to introduce for a looong time: Scooch, librarian at Gernsbeck University!

The woman at the left in the last panel is Ashelle Botaba, daughter of truck driver and actor Henry Botaba...

And some of you may already know Lt. Ratel Nyegere from Playground as well as Grinder$.

But who is this nervous young man she's seeking out on campus...?

it's like the support group for 3rd string characters and distant relatives of protagonists!

...and Ratel came uninvited!

I figured since I'm introducing three characters of similar age in the same chapter, why not show them forming a clique?

(Oh BTW, as a little Easter egg, I drew Johann sitting in a pose roughly similar to this one!)

Yeah, Ashelle would be giving anyone wearing a Koganan uniform the side eye

Likewise, while Johann doesn't know Ashelle and her background specifically, he figures that a fellow African is more likely to recognize that uniform than the average Westerner.

(Also, there will be consequences upon a certain other specific person eventually recognizing it... Hehehehe...)

Oooh, I just noticed all the book titles :D
Nice detail!

Ah, finally someone noticed! ^^

Aside from the opportunity to put in a few more Easter eggs, I find actual words just look better as titles for random books, instead of just drawing some vaguely letter-shaped lines!

But is the shelf fiction or nonfiction
Microraptor edit delete reply
Ooooh, that's a good question!

This is supposed to be an university library, so it's more probably non-fiction.
However, the contents of the books may not correspond exactly to the comics the titles are referring to. For example, Kraken may simply be a book about kraken, and Grinder$ may be about... economics?

And what on Earth could be in that book titled Lectro!, which is second to the left in the uppermost row... ;-)

Nice references, Micro!
(and poor Johann, having his 'spot blown up' like that.)

Speaking of references and whatnot, I have something for YOU!)

Dude, this is awesome!! Many thanks! :-D
(Incidentally, just yesterday I finished the page in which we finally see what happens when Peter does play that guitar...)

BTW, I wonder what the book titled Kraken may contain... ;-)
Perhaps it gave a certain Dr. Ashton some ideas...?

You're very welcome!
(I figure that SOMEONE had to say it, and since Peter's friends are all on separate adventures right now, I had two of my own volunteer.
Microraptor edit delete reply
Yup, exactly:
None of his friends is paying attention to what poor Peter is doing, and so the misfortune can take its course unhindered...
