ha ha ha ha that’s so typical! I can think of multiple ridiculous real-world examples where the set back distance from the no-go zone isn’t respected.

“Oh, that’s the waterfront restricted area over there! We’ll be safe on this side of the barrier!”

OK, I looked up the Laundry series, and from the description it seems to be right up my alley!
