Seems like after the incident with Bob, Aegis assigned a second guard for safety's sake...
The Duval siblings inherited their downright astonishing pickpocketing skills from their ancestor!
I had the idea for a scene like this since way back here, when I wondered how exactly Sinistra may have escaped those guards. So this here is kinda rectifying a missed opportunity.
Because this is the first direct physical altercation between Aegis and Drake Expanded Universe (ToyCo in this case) personnel! Everything up to this point (including the previous page) has been through proxies or otherwise disavowable folks.
- I was about to say: "What about the raid on ToyCo HQ in Childhood's End?"
However, firstly that one seems to have been mostly man (& Bogeyman) vs. machine. And secondly, Aegis intervened directly only after MSV did most of the dirty work for them.
- Keep the "vs. machine" loophole in mind for the following pages. Hehehe...
- Luckily, the Aegis guy didn't see his assailant. But wait, surely there're cameras! Well, Wildebees could always claim she was just swatting a fly on his neck...
- Near the end we might see what Gus himself has to say about all this. If the net result is the reigning in of a loose cannon A.I. that might be a danger to everyone, maybe he'll let that one faux pas slide...
Whenever the plot doesn't require the them to lose against the protagonists, Dexter & Sinistra get the chance to show that they're actually quite competent at being thieves! ^^
And no wonder, after all they're the descendants of "Not Arsène Lupin"! ;-D
Have I ever mentioned how much I adore the Duvals? And it is AMAZING seeing them alongside Selene (who is in the running for being my all-time fave Cryptida character).
Thank you!
I seems it was the right decision to bring the Duvals back after so many chapters! :-)
Also, with a reasonably large cast plus additional pools of characters to borrow from other comics, "X interacts with Y for the first time" (on screen or even in-universe) are always very interesting moments, often resulting in quite interesting new character dynamics...

break out the guns indeed
